Summer is finally here!
With that our Sounders hit the road on 3 of the total 5 matches this Month, including part 2 of the Cascadia derby when We play The Timbers on July 10th. (Kasey still owns Spencer) Gorilla FC will, of course, be traveling to Portscum in our sold out bus to show our support.
If You are going with GFC to this match, all tickets have been handed out. All bus ticket packages will get their tickets on the bus from the GFC Captain running It. Sundays Fado opens at 5:45 am for Gaelic games! So people can come in and grab a bite or a beer while they are waiting for the 7am departure.
Another very important road game comes a week before Portland against the Galaxy on July. 4th.
On the 16th, Sounders will come home for a match against the Rapids.
Back in April, a poorly timed tackle in the 5th minute by Brian Mullen, left Steve Zakuani with a fractured tibia, and out for what may be the rest of the season. This will be a great time to pay tribute to Steve and wish him a speedy recovery.
Will Mullen play at Qwest? We’ll have to wait and see.
Our Sounders will then face one the biggest teams in the world, UEFA champions league finalist Manchester United on Wednesday July 20th at 7pm for a mid season friendly that will bring the likes of Chicharito and Rooney to our town, guided by the hands of the always camera friendly Sir Alex Ferguson. Tickets are still available for this match.
July play comes to a close in Houston, when SFC faces the Dynamo on the 30th.
Membership council voting is back!

J.R Gorilla Juice Bar is now open for business. (by Ron Lamb)
Run by members of the Renton/Skyway Boys and Girls Club as part of their City of Renway “microsociety,” the juice bar honors Sounders player James Riley, Martin James Media and Gorilla FC, who organized the James Riley 7-A-Side Youth Soccer tournament last October that raised over $7,000 for the club.
The Club’s microsociety program, which won a national Boys and Girls Club award last year, puts kids in charge of their own government, law enforcement and businesses.
Helping celebrate the final market day of the school year on June 15 were Sounders FC players Terry Boss, Steve Zakuani and Riley.
Kids from the club took the opportunity to present Zakuani with a get-well banner they’d made to express support for the Sounder who is recovering from a broken leg suffered in the game against the Colorado Rapids.
The one day 7-A-Side Youth Soccer Tournament, one of Gorilla FC’s many charity events, drew teams from around the Puget Sound region for a day of soccer and fund raising at Arena Sports in Redmond. Sounders FC players Riley, Zakuani, Brad Evans and Blaise Nkufo were on hand to sign autographs, have their photos taken with the participants and hang out with the kids. A raffle and silent auction were part of the day’s activities. Alabastro Photography, Arena Sports, Dick’s Brewing Company, Fado Irish Pub, Rocky Top Homebrew, Schmetzer’s Sporthaus, and Seattle Sounders FC also participated as sponsors.
