MLS W.O.R.K.S. Community MVP Award 2011

For the third year in a row, a Gorilla FC member has won the MLS W.O.R.K.S. Community MVP award recognizing individuals who strive to make a difference in their communities.

Lisa Drake is both excited and honored to be a part of this tradition.  A  shared passion for community service is something that she feels strongly connects her to both GFC and the Sounders organization.

Lisa spends her working hours at the non-profit Seattle Humane Society.  Additionally, she volunteers with Seattle Works and has contributed to projects serving the Compass Housing Alliance, Childhaven, Rosehedge, Greenwood Food Bank and Shalom Bayit.  Within the local soccer community, she has participated in GFC projects including Bowling for Japan and Seattle Works Day at the Wintonia, United We Serve projects benefiting Atlantic Street Center and the Emergency Feeding Program, and charity benefits supporting America Scores Seattle and Seattle Street Soccer.

As the Community MVP for SSFC, Lisa will be traveling to NYC for the MLS All-Star game on July 27th to be recognized at halftime along with other MLS club representatives.  From these individuals, one grand-prize winner will be determined through online-voting to receive $10,000 for the charity of their choice.  Lisa hopes to the have the support of GFC members and SSFC fans to help her win for Seattle Humane!
